Periodontal Specialist

We are so fortunate to have a periodontal specialist, Dr. Michael Landzberg, working from Parkview Dental. He treats referred patients from each of our four locations. Having his services available is a distinct advantage as it allows us to fully customize your treatment and keep all of your records in one place. It also helps facilitate treatment, better coordinated care between your dentist and the specialist.

What is a periodontist?

A highly specialized dentist, a periodontist focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. They are also specially trained in the placement, maintenance, and repair of dental implants. Additionally, periodontists are experts at treating oral inflammation. Periodontists bring extensive additional education and training in these areas – three years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest diagnostic and treatment techniques for periodontal disease. They also have the appropriate training to perform cosmetic periodontal procedures.

Periodontists often treat more problematic periodontal cases. You want to see a periodontist for things such as severe gum disease treatment, a range of surgical procedures, or if you have a complex medical history. Offering a wide range of treatments and procedures, periodontists offer scaling and root planing (cleaning the infected surface of the root) or root surface debridement (removing damaged tissue).

When necessary, our dentists refer periodontal issues, treatment, and procedures to Dr. Michael Landzberg.
